ESSAY 01
WHY NOT YOU
The question that got stuck in my head during a ten-kilometer run, when I was too afraid to begin.
About a month ago, a ‘WHY NOT YOU’ video randomly showed up on my Instagram Reels.
Something about that day felt different.
Maybe it was just another cheesy motivational video. But with the quick cuts and the music building in the background, I felt something stir inside me.
Still, nothing changed that day. There was no sudden breakthrough. No life-changing moment. The day passed like any other.
A month went by.
I wasn’t doing well. Depression—my old friend—had me in its grip. I was scared of failing, so I did what I often do: I pretended I was still figuring out what to do.
The truth was simpler. I was just wasting time because I was too afraid to start.
I was sick of seeing myself like that, so I went outside for a run. Somewhere along the way, those words came back to me.
Why not you?
I played the video over and over as I ran ten kilometers. At some point, the question stopped being just another motivational line. It got stuck in my head.
Why not me? Seriously. Why did I keep telling myself I couldn’t do it?
I tried to come up with an honest answer. But every reason I gave myself sounded more like an excuse. There was no real reason I couldn’t.
What the fuck are you waiting for?
That one pissed me off. Because I honestly didn’t know.
Was I waiting for someone to give me permission? Was I waiting until I felt ready? Or was I waiting for some perfect moment when failure would no longer be possible?
What the hell was I waiting for?
I don’t have time. None of us do.
I’m starting to think that the time we regret most isn’t the time we tried and failed. It’s the time we lost because we were too scared to do anything at all.
The reason I created this blog is simple.
I want to collect the videos that move something inside me. I want to write honestly about how they change my attitude, my choices, and the way I live.
And maybe, somewhere in the world, someone will find something they need in these small changes of mine.
Come by whenever life feels heavy—or whenever you’re just bored.
Maybe you’ll wonder: “Is this guy doing okay?” “Is he still going on about ‘Why, why’?”
Come take a look. Maybe you’ll leave feeling a little less alone, a little more encouraged, and a little more ready to move again.
After hearing these words, what do you want to do today?
