ESSAY 06
What It Means to Use My Time Well
What can I do now to bring my time to life?
I need to use my time well. To protect what I love. To do what I want to do. To become more myself.
My day has twenty-four hours. I need to protect my family, my friends, and myself. I want to make the world a little more beautiful, a little more alive. To bring more happiness to the people around me.
What I want to protect and what I want to do are connected.
My own vitality helps my family thrive. Theirs helps me thrive, too.
A change in one part of life reaches into the others.
Using time well means doing what matters most, when it is needed, in a way that fits.
It means giving both what I love and what I want to do room to flourish.
Priorities come first. I need to know what matters and notice what needs attention now. My time is limited. I have none to waste.
Time to put things in order. Starting with how I use my time.
I want to approach this as an unfolding process. Find one small part of my life I can work on. Make it more alive. Notice how the change affects the larger whole. Tend to the smaller things that support it. Then find the next change.
At each step, I ask: Does this help me, my family, my friends, and what I want to do flourish together? As I work on each part and attend to its relationships, a way of using my time can gradually take shape.
